The Frayer Model is a graphic organizer that helps our students dig deep into the meaning of a new word OR clarify the meaning of a familiar word. What I love the most about the Frayer Model is that it can be used in every content area to introduce and clarify the meaning of new words. So that means that regardless of the subject you teach, you can use the Frayer Model to help your students learn the vocabulary.
Step 1: Write the vocabulary word in the center of the graphic organizer

Step 2: Write the definition
You can send students to the dictionary or online resources for the formal definition, or you can provide a student-friendly definition.

Step 3: Draw a picture that helps you remember the definition
Alternately, you can ask students to write a sentence using the word in this part of the organizer.

Step 4: List examples of the word

Step 5: List non-examples of the word

The Frayer Model is now complete! Now, your students have a more in-depth view of the vocabulary word "salutations".
There are many variations of this graphic organizer that you can find online. You can modify this model to meet your students’ learning needs and your lesson’s particular standards.
